As a beginner I focused mainly on techno & house music. But as I grew so did my love for different styles. To me every style is it's own personality and for me it's like getting to meet the producer & learn through the music. This type of thinking had me in class at every practice session but also kept me in doors practicing. When I finally broke into djing at clubs I realized I was just a rookie and getting a shot wasn't going to be easy. So instead of waiting for a spot I began to throw, promote & perform all of my own parties. All be it small jams but they were my own and they were pretty successful. I survived the first 5 years as a working dj by booking all my own gigs at as many small local bars and clubs that would have me. My first party was in New York City and it lasted 2 years. A proud memory to say the least.
